The Heritage Trail - Placer County
Drive-up, Hitch-up, or Giddy-up! Whatever your preferred method of travel, be sure to save the date and follow the Placer County Museums trail from Roseville to Tahoe. Aug. 16 Bodie Photographers Day - Bodie
The Friends of Bodie host a Photographers’ Day on the 3rd Saturday of each month May through October. On this day photographers are allowed to enter Bodie State Historic Park 1/2-hour before sunrise and stay until 1/2-hour after sunrise. Limited to 50 people, pre-registration is required. Aug. 23 Hattie’s Tea Party - Placerville
The Friends of Old Hangtown will present the new Hattie's Tea Party to commemorate the original opening of the mine in 1888. The group will provide décor, refreshments and entertainment characteristic of the late 1800's. Monies from this event will be given to the Hangtown's Gold Bug Park Development Committee, Inc. for the Meagher House Fundraising Project. Held at a new location this year: Town Hall, 549 Main Street (It is air-conditioned!) Cost: $12 per person, tickets available at the Chamber of Commerce.

Aug. 23 Miner’s Picnic - Empire Mine, Grass Valley
The picnic was originally an annual event held to benefit the widows and orphans of the miners. Now it is held for the benefit of all the park visitors. Come and enjoy a day of entertainment, including games for the children, gold panning, equipment exhibits and demonstrations. Food and beverages will be available for purchase or bring your own picnic. In addition living history volunteers will be at the cottage and mineyard to explain the history of the mine.

Aug. 29 - Sept. 1 Gold Rush Days - Old Sacramento
Travel back in time to the 1850s. Throughout Old Sacramento you will find dirt covered streets, a Tent City, live entertainment, living history demonstrations, costumed characters and more. Free. Check website for additional details.
